2015-16 Season

The 2015-16 Phantoms recorded a 11-19 record while playing arguably the toughest schedule in the State of California. Despite such a challenging season, the Phantoms sent a record four (4) players to high major Division 1 collegiate programs (UCLA, Washington State, Colorado and Utah State) and advanced to the CIFSS Quarterfinals before losing to the eventual champion by a mere 3 points, which most critics dubbed the real CIF Championship game due to double digit blowout wins in the Semifinals and Championship games by the even champion.

2014-15 Season

The 2014-15 year was an exciting and possibly the most successful season in Cathedral Phantoms basketball history. The Phantoms were ranked as high as #9 in the State, posted a record of 22-8 and reached the State Regional Championship game (State Final 4) as the favorite, losing to the eventual State Champion in a nailbiter that most critics dubbed the real State Championship game in that the championship game proved to be a non-competitive contest. Having played one of the toughest schedules in the State, for a 2nd straight year the Phantoms were placed in the CIFSS Open Division where they won their first game on the road at Redondo Union before losing in the Elite 8 to eventual CIFSS Open Division champion, nationally ranked and Del Rey League rival Bishop Montgomery. Cathedral won the San Fernando Valley Invitational Championship and dropped the Huntington Park New Year Tournament championship game to eventual LA City Section Champion, Fairfax, in a rematch of the championship from the preceding year where Cathedral prevailed over Fairfax. The Phantoms also reached the Semifinals of the Las Vegas Prep Championships.

2013-14 Season

The 2013-14 season marked a historical 24-6 campaign, where the Phantoms went undefeated in league play to win the Camino Real League championship. Cathedral earned rankings throughout the season as high as #20 in the State, #22 MaxPreps SoCal, #15 LA Times and #1 in Division 3A by SCIBCA. The Phantoms state playoff run took them to the Regional Semifinals, losing in an overtime thriller, while picking up two 30+ point wins in the process. Cathedral was selected by CIFSS for the inaugural Open Division Playoff bracket, a double elimination playoff format featuring the Top 16 teams in the CIF Southern Section. The Phantoms defeated their arch rival Cantwell Sacred Heart twice in league play. These were big games as Cantwell was ranked Top 20 in the State at the time of both contests. Cathedral won the 2014 Huntington Park New Year Tournament with an impressive 20-point win over perennial power LA Fairfax in the championship game. In 29 of the 30 games, the Phantoms had the lead in the 4th quarter.
