Five Schools Working Hardest for 2018 Guard Aguir Agau
Aguir Agau, the 6-foot-6 shooting guard from Middlebrooks (CA) Prep, told D1VISION on Thursday that Oregon State, Washington State, New Orleans, Long Beach State, and Tulane are the five schools working the hardest for his recruitment. He broke down each school:
Oregon State: “I feel like they’re in the best conference in the NCAA with the Pac-12. I think that this year and next year will be bounce-back years for them. Last year, they had some injuries and it was a rocky year for them but I feel like they’ll bounce back and be good in the following years.”
Washington State: “They’ve shown a lot of interest. They were at almost all of my AAU games. I was hurt a little bit this summer but they still came out and watched. They’re also in the Pac-12 so that’s what I like about them too.”
New Orleans: “I’ve built a really good relationship with the head coach and assistant coach. I feel like I could go in right away and make an impact for them.”
Long Beach State: “I’ve also developed a really good relationship with their head coach and assistant coach. I feel like the west coast is my home now. I have a lot of interest in them because they’re close to home.”
Tulane: “I like their head coach Mike Dunleavy. He coached in the NBA and since ultimately my goal is to make the NBA, so I feel like he has a ton of resources to help me get to where I want to go.”
Agau is currently planning visits with his family and has no timetable for when he plans on making his decision. “I plan on taking all of my official visits,” said Agau. “I heard people usually don’t take all five but I plan on taking all five, if necessary.”
When asked about what he’s looking for in a school, Agau said, “There really isn’t a certain aspect that I’m looking for but I want to come in and be able to make an impact right away for the school. If basketball doesn’t work out, I have a backup plan. I want to be a chiropractor one day and so they have to have good academics. I want to study exercise science so they have to be good at that too.”
Coming off a very impressive summer, Agau’s stock is continually rising. Most notably, Agau took home MVP honors at the Deng Camp USA earlier this month
