Former Cathedral Assistant Joins UC Riverside Staff
When Will Kimble joined the staff of Coach Middlebrooks at Ribet Academy and then at Cathedral High School, he understood what many did not.
This would prove to be a pathway back to the coaching ranks at the Division 1 level. Having coached 21 Phantoms who are now playing collegiate basketball in only a 4 year period, along with 19 more through the Ribet Academy and Middlebrooks Academy programs, Coach Kimble built a resume that was unmatched by his peers in terms of being a part of a proven machine that develops student-athletes who translate to the college level.
On September 28, 2016, Coach Dennis Cutts announced that Will Kimble would become an assistant coach on the staff at UC-Riverside. This after Kimble had just been named an assistant coach at Academy of Art, a Division 2 program, on July 19, 2016. Kimble became another unprecedented story in “The Middlebrooks Way” archives having earned 2 college jobs in just a 2 month period of time.
“I am excited for Coach Kimble,” stated Coach William Middlebrooks. “His hard work and passion for the game has allowed him to capitalize on collegiate job opportunities in an overly saturated market of young men seeking to coach in college. I was always confident that given enough time and the right situation, Coach Kimble would be able to return to the college ranks. It never crossed my mind that he would lock down 2 jobs in such a short period of time. But that is how things happen around here. The unusual and extraordinary happens. I am just thankful and humbled that God has chosen our program, and the young men that come through these doors, for unprecedented opportunities and blessings.”
