Cathedral’s Middlebrooks To Coach Southern Section Team
The 18th annual Collision All-Star game, which pits the best of the LA City Section and Southern Section, will be held at Inglewood High on April 30.
Taft head coach Derrick Taylor will coach the boys City Section team and Kelli DiMuro will coach the girls Southern Section team. Taylor has previously coached the game once before. Palisades’ Torino Johnson will coach the girls City Section team and Cathedral’s Will Middlebrooks will coach the Southern Section boys team.
The game routinely features some of the best talent in Southern California and its alumni includes NBA players Russell Westbrook, Jordan Hamilton, Darren Collision, Solomon Hill, WNBA players Lisa Willis and Ebony Hoffman. Current alumni in college include Elijah Stewart (USC), Thomas Welsh (UCLA), Skylar Spencer (San Diego State).
Alumni who are now coaches include Matt Sargeant (Oakwood head coach) and former Taft/UNLV standout Justin Hawkins (Desert Pines (NV) assistant).
